Final Update

My learners were invited to my wiki last week. They accepted the invitation and completed the training before the deadline that was specified. I received some good feedback from them and have just finished writing up and submitting my final report.

Update #3

I have invited my learners to my training wiki and they have started to accept the invitations. I will be at a conference the first part of next week, so I plan on giving them a deadline of Friday to finish the lessons within the wiki. Then I will start compiling the data next Saturday before I leave and work on the write-up during the evening hours while in Phoenix.

Update #2

This week I've been working on the finishing touches for my wiki. I have not received permission to use two of the videos that I wanted to so I will remove those before inviting my test group to the training next week. The rest of my pages are ready to go. Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving!

Progress Report 1

This week, I created my workspace in PBworks and started developing my pages where the instruction will be housed. I have been searching for appropriate videos to add to my training and so far, I have found one that gives me permission to use it. I added that video to the front page of my wiki to introduce my topic.  I also plan on adding a video I created for a class last summer to one of my pages. This week I will continue to search for additional videos to use and start to create my scenario pages, where learners will have to respond by posting their thoughts about those scenarios, determining if they constitute a violation of the Sexual Misconduct policy or not, and why.

IDT 516 Final Project

I work in the Office of Equal Opportunity and Access here at WIU. Two of the main responsibilities of our office is to train the campus community on Title IX and to enforce the Sexual Misconduct (Title IX ) Policy for the university. Consent is an aspect of Title IX that we need to train our students on, so for my final project, I plan on using PBworks to develop a training on consent. I will create separate pages to outline the policy, inform learners who our Title IX Coordinator is how to contact her, what your rights are under Title IX, and how to file a complaint. I will then create different scenarios, hopefully utilizing short videos, to which the learners will have to respond with their opinion on if the scenario equates to consent or not, and why. The wiki should work well for this activity since all information will be in the same location, and notifications can be sent when new posts are made by the learners.
